High Falls Weekend

We took a trip up to High Falls last weekend to explore the area, meet with vendors, and get away.  The region was covered in snow which made for a scenic but sketchy drive.  We made it there safely and in time for our first appointment, after which we checked into The Sheeley House a Bed & Breakfast next to Shadow Lawn, our venue.

That night, we went to an awesome place recommended by our our rockstar florists called The Country Inn.  They had an impressive 500 beers to choose from — truly a sight to behold.

The next morning Amanda’s family drove up to meet us and see Shadow Lawn for the first time…

Needless to say, everyone loved the venue and had a lot of creative ideas for how we could use the space to the fullest.  We had such a great time; it’s great to know that we have many more upstate getaways to look forward to.

We heart High Falls has become an invaluable source for all things wedding. From custom hair piece to vintage ball jars and milk glass, there are endless possibilities for great additions to the day.

While browsing etsy, I came across a seller that takes vintage maps and embroiders over them to create a great little art piece. I emailed to ask if by any chance she had a map that showed our wedding location of High Falls, NY. She did!! And voila…

A big thanks to JoAnn for making this for us! Be sure to check out her shop. For now, it sits on our bookshelf but I think I’m going to bring the little guy to the wedding, maybe display it on our table or something.

In more High Falls news…Luke and I are taking a trip up there this weekend. I’m so excited to explore the area and find great local recommendation to give our guests. We’re also meeting with our florist, potential caterer and taking another tour around Shadow Lawn. I’m really looking forward to a nice weekend in the country!

Where Should We Do This?

Last weekend we drove upstate to visit a handful of venues for the big day.  The weather was pretty awful, but we still had a great time.  Rain or shine, Hudson Valley in the fall is hard to top.

We came across some great stuff like this sweet silo at The Locusts on Husdon.  (It was freaking huge.)
